The Magicians season 6 release date: renewed or cancelled?

Sera Gamble and John McNamara created “The Magicians,” a fantasy television series based on Lev Grossman’s 2009 book.

The riveting series centers on graduate student Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) studying at Brakebills University to become a magician. However, he eventually becomes aware of the perils nearby, jeopardizing the safety of mankind.

The mythical world of Quentin’s favorite childhood tales becomes a reality, shockingly altering his view of the world.

Additionally, the narrative offers information about Julia Wicker (Stella Maeve), a childhood acquaintance of Quentin’s who is denied admission to Brakebills, and Eliot Waugh (Hale Appleman), a close friend of Quentin’s. It received favorable reviews from critics and audiences throughout all five seasons.

Alongside the show’s wonderfully timed comedy and weirdness, the mythical kingdom of Fillory enchanted viewers. Additionally, the story drew criticism due to Reynard The Fox’s shameless portrayal of Julia’s (Mackenzie Astin) rape.

With Season 5 set to end in April 2020, fans are eager to know more about the upcoming season. To sum up, this is what we know.

The Magicians Season 6 Release Date

Season 5 of The Magicians started on SyFy channel on January 15, 2020. It concluded its 13-episode run on April 1, 2020.

Deadline reported on March 3, 2020 that the producers of The Magicians had scripted the Season 5 finale to serve as the series ending. SyFy confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “The Magicians have become an integral part of our Syfy family for five incredible seasons.”

As we near the conclusion of our adventure, we would like to express our gratitude to John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Lev Grossman and the rest of our wonderful cast, crew, writers and directors for their magnificent creation.

But more importantly, we want to express our gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support and enthusiasm. Thanks to you, magic will always have a place in our hearts.

Although the station didn’t explain the move, we do know that The Magicians season five averaged 881,000+7 live viewers, with roughly half of them between the ages of 18 and 49.

That’s a good mark for a series of cables compared to others that have slowly lost popularity.

However, this stat only represents half of The Magicians seasons 1 and 2 viewership. As a result, we believe the poor ratings explain why SyFy canceled the program.

To sum up, The Magicians Season 6 has been officially canceled and Season 5 will serve as the final chapter of the series.
