Bishop will perform a magic show at Reg | News, Sports, Jobs

Illusionist Jason Bishop returns to Jamestown with his new show, “Direct Magic”, at the Reg Lenna Center for The Arts at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Bishop is an internationally award-winning illusionist who was the youngest person to win the Magician’s Alliance of Eastern States Stage Award and one of the youngest to enter the Society of American Magicians’ world-class competition.

Straight Up Magic features illusions and sleight of hand delivered with Bishop’s ironic wit and audience participation. From his new hologram illusion featuring Gizmo the dog to close-up magic that’s captured live and projected onto large projection screens, Bishop gives audiences a view of every detail.

Bishop’s interest in magic began in his youth, taking shape in his mid-teens. In college, Bishop studied acting, then hit the road performing at resorts and amusement parks, wherever he could find an audience, including the streets. As the audience enjoyed the show more and more, it changed its magic to become bigger and more impressive.

Bishop created “Direct Magic” off-Broadway at the New Victory Theater in New York City just months after its final Jamestown performance of “The Jason Bishop Show.”

Tickets for Saturday’s show start at $5 for children 18 and under and $10 for adults.

Jason Bishop: Straight Up Magic is sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisers, Financial Advisor Jake Kane.
