Free Magic Show Headlines Week 3 of Ottawa Recreation – Shaw Local

The Rob Thompson Magic Show headlines the third week of summer activities sponsored by Ottawa Recreation. The magic show is scheduled from 10:15 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22 at the Central Middle School cafetorium. Bus transport will be provided. Supervisors will meet in their parks until the bus transport arrives. Supervisors will not be available in the parks during the show. Permission slips are required for children being transported from parks to school. See park supervisors for more information. That afternoon, an all-park play day will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at Rigden Park.

Monday, June 20

  • All Ottawa Recreation participants will have the chance to swim at the Marseille municipal pool every Monday during the summer program. Families should contact park supervisors for pick-up times and permission slips to ride the bus. Pool admission is free for children under 16 who enter with Ottawa Recreation Supervisors.
  • Girls Basketball: Hoop It Up! the camp has openings in two sessions from Monday to Wednesday. Session 1 (9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) is for fifth and sixth graders and Session 2 (10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) is for seventh and eighth graders.
  • Little Ninjas Martial Arts Training is open to children ages 5-7 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at the Duque Institute Facility.
  • Golf lessons for children ages 11-13 run 8:30-9:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday at Pine Hills Golf Club. Call Pine Hills at 815-434-3985 to register.
  • Safety Town sessions continue from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday at Central Intermediate School.
  • Urban Photo Safari has openings available for students in grades five through eight interested in photography. The camp meets from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • Two laser tag sessions are available from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at the YMCA. The sessions are divided into two age groups: one for children from 5 to 7 years old and another for children from 8 to 12 years old.
  • Tennis lessons continue at Ottawa High School. Five sessions will meet Monday through Friday: Session 1 for third and fourth years, 9-10 a.m.; Session 2 for CM2 and CM2, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Session 3 for the seventh and eighth grades, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Session 4 for high school students, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Session 5 for high school girls, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Munchkin Tennis continues for students entering first and second grade. The camp will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Tuesday, June 21

  • Crafts and Tiny Tots programs continue at all parks. Families can register at the parks.
  • Two sessions of swimming lessons will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. Classes for toddlers (ages 3-5) are from 6:00-6:30 p.m. and classes for school-aged children (ages 6-12) are from 6:35-7:05 p.m. .

Thursday June 23

  • Crafts and Tiny Tots programs continue at all parks. Families can register at the parks.

friday june 24

  • Bowling sessions continue at Dettore’s Town Lanes. The openings are available in Session 1 (1 p.m.-2:15 p.m.) and Session 2 (2:15 p.m.-3:30 p.m.)

Coming in week 4

  • Summer recreation participants can have fun on wheels at the City of Ottawa Recreational Skating Party. Roller skating at the Paramount Skating Arena will be available from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. The cost to participate is $2. Refreshments are available for purchase at the rink.
