Is The Magicians season 6 launching on a new platform after Syfy canceled the series?

The Magicians is one of the popular names in the fantasy series aired by Syfy and later Netflix, based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Lev Grossman. The franchise received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, but reviews were mostly positive, thanks to the work of Sera Gamble creator John McNamara and the stunning performance of the main cast. So, will there be a season 6 of The Magicians? Here’s everything we know so far.
NBC Universal, Syfy’s parent company, launched its own streaming service in December 2020; therefore, many series from Syfy can head to the streamer.
“It’s been kind of like it’s been almost every season,” co-creator John McNamara told TVInsider in 2020.
“With the exception of season four to season five, we never knew if we were going to be taken or not. It was always a discussion – never really about the creation – about the finances and you always know, with any show, that there’s this kind of line between what it pays and what it costs.”
Co-creator Sera Gamble said, “And as the creators of the show, we understand that. We felt at the start of this season that Syfy, especially as a first platform, was kind of reaching the point of ‘The cup is full and there is no more room.’”
McNamara added, “It’s not necessarily going to go up revenue-wise, it’s not necessarily going to contract revenue-wise, but it’s going to cost more.”
Now, in the case of The Magicians Season 6, the fifth segment aired on SYFY between December 16, 2015 and April 1, 2020. SYFY canceled the series after five seasons. Although there were many calls for other streaming services to pick up the show, that didn’t happen.
The good news is that the show didn’t leave any significant cliffhangers on season 5. The showrunners had started wrapping up the stories in the fourth season and wrapped them up in the fifth, while the show’s rating on SYFY was shrinking.
The Magicians portrays Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) enrolling at Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy to train as a magician, where he discovers that the magical world from his favorite childhood book is real and poses danger. for Humanity. Meanwhile, her childhood friend Julia’s life is derailed when she is refused entry, and she seeks magic elsewhere outside of school.
Sera Gamble spoke with THR about Jason Ralph’s protagonist impact in Season 4. It’s not that Quentin’s story is over on The Magicians. It’s that Jason Ralph is no longer a regular on the show, and Quentin Coldwater died on the show, and the story moving forward is about the aftermath of that…”
She added, “Jason left the show, and Quentin died, and a lot of season five is about what happens next, just like when someone dies in our lives, the next season of our lives is about what that is happening.”
The fifth season of The Magicians is now available on Netflix and Prime Video. You can also watch Magicians Season 5 streaming on HereTouTV for rent, or purchase it as a download from Apple iTunes, Google Play Movies, or Microsoft Store.
