Magicians finish sixth on day one of Class A Boys State Golf Tournament | News, Sports, Jobs
The Class A Boys State Golf Tournament kicked off Tuesday at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo and the course consists of 12 teams. For Minot High, they finished the first round with a sixth-place finish and an overall team score of 313.
West Fargo Sheyenne and Fargo Davies finished the day with a team score of 294, giving them both first place early. Grand Forks Red River (302), Fargo North (304), Bismarck Century (307), Grand Forks Central (314), Fargo Shanley (325), Dickinson (327), Bismarck Legacy (355), Bismarck St. Mary’s (355 ), and Williston (393) completed the remaining finishes.
Brock Jones had the top score for Minot, shooting a 75 on the day that was tied for 9th among individual golfers. Behind Jones was Henry Langhans, who shot a 77 and tied for 23rd individually, and Kasen Rostad shot a 79, finishing 33rd. Tyler Bast (82), Ben Svangstu (93) and Peyton Bartsch (93) were the remaining finishes for the Magicians.
Landon Olson (Fargo North, 70) and Nate Peyerl (West Fargo Sheyenne, 70) were the top two individuals on Tuesday. Gabe Benson (Fargo Davies, 71), Jayce Johnson (Fargo Davies, 72), Trent Wiemken (Fargo Davies, 73), Andrew Wilhelm (West Fargo Sheyenne, 73), Cooper Freije (Grand Forks Red River, 73), Evan Booth (Fargo South, 74), Matthew Souther (Legacy, 75), Ben Likness (West Fargo Sheyenne, 75), Skyler Syverson (Grand Forks Red River, 75), Brady McGarry (Grand Forks Central, 75), Duncan Tufte (Century , 75), Carson Hannestad (Fargo North, 75) and Brock Jones (Minot, 75) were all top fifteen individual finalists.
The Magicians have some catching up to do heading into the final day as they seek a better result in the state tournament and end the 2022 season on a high. The tournament will be back in action today for the final round.
