Magicians take second place at Minot Invite, wrapping up regular season play | News, Sports, Jobs


For the first time this season, the Minot High Magicians didn’t have to travel out of town to tune in, with the Minot Invite taking place last Friday. The invitation took place at the Vardon Golf Club and 10 teams came to Minot to participate.

It was the first home invite for the magicians, as they seemed to be having a successful show in their own backyard. The Magicians did just that, earning second place in the invite.

As this is the last regular season invite for the Magicians, it also served as an individual state qualifier and anyone who shot an 81 or better qualified for the next state tournament later this month. -this.

Henry Langhans and Brock Jones led the way for the Magicians, with Langhans shooting a 76 and Jones a 77. Langhans’ score placed him second among all golfers, while Jones tied for third among all golfers.

The rest of the group for the Magicians included Peyton Bartsch (80), Kasen Rostad (81), Tyler Bast (86) and Benjamin Svangstu (92), giving the team an overall score of 314 and falling seven shots off the lead . .

Century came in first place with an overall score of 307. Century’s victory marked a perfect regular season, as they won all seven competitions and won the WDA regular season title. Minot (314), Mandan (340), Dickinson (347), Legacy (357), Jamestown (358), St. Mary’s (358), Williston (367), Bismarck (369) and Watford City (396) made up the rest finishes.

Century’s Anders Alm shot a 74, earning first place at the invitational. Henry Langhans (Minot, 76), Brock Jones (Minot, 77), Logan Schoepp (Century, 77), Duncan Tufte (Century, 77), Cameron Wittenberg (Century, 79), Dylan Nosbusch (Century, 79), Peyton Bartsch (Minot, 80), Jayce Johnson (Mandan, 81), Lucas Boustead (Century, 81), and Kasen Rostad (Minot, 81) were the best golfers on the day and met the state qualifying standard.

Next up will be the West Region Tournament taking place today at The Links of North Dakota in Ray. After the West Region Tournament, the State Tournament will begin on June 7.
