Travis Nye will perform a magic show at the Capitol Theater on January 15

Magician Travis Nye has over 17 years of experience performing for a variety of events, venues and audiences.
Businesses love it. Newlyweds love it. Children love it too.
Nye has been described as having a great passion for encouraging young people to pursue their dreams.
“My interest in magic tricks and tricking people grew into a passion for engaging with my audience and creating moments of wonder,” Nye says on her website. “I had to learn how to get my audience to first care about the ‘tricks’ I was doing, and only then was it possible to create moments of magic.”
With this in mind, Nye realized that magic was no longer just for children, but children were important to him.
“The whole show is highly interactive, it’s family-friendly, and there’s nothing vulgar or offensive about it,” Nye told The Hawk Eye. “I’m going to start with fun stuff for kids, move on to more advanced stuff and also do stunts, kind of a tribute to Harry Houdini, which is a big reason why I do magic.”
Born and raised in Keokuk, graduating from Central Lee Community School District in Donnellson, Nye said he did a few corporate shows in Burlington, but “I never did any big shows there.”
“Travis reminded us what it’s like to leave your worries at the door and immerse yourself in the fun, laughter and magic!! The tricks were amazing and the interaction was priceless! I can’t wait to see another show and more of what he’s up his sleeve!”

Nye left Iowa right after high school in 2004 to live in South Dakota, where he owns a magic shop and theater, Spellbound Magic Shop & Theater, which he opened in 2020 in Sioux Falls when the pandemic began to turn live entertainment into a disappearing act. .
“Travis did a live show for our last day of school via Zoom. Our 6th graders loved the show – and so did the teachers! He was very easy to work with and even showed us how he does it a few laps too. Thank you, Travis!”

Nye said the Burlington event is his first big show since the COVID shutdowns began in 2020.
“I’m super excited to come to Burlington, to test new gear, brand new tricks, plus a bunch of classics that I’ve always done,” Nye said. “It’s my return to the stage.”
Tickets are $10 available at magicoftravisnye.com or at the Capitol Theater box office, 211 N. Third Street in Burlington.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the show is at 7 p.m.
